Plastic Crates The Center for Sustainable Polymers was founded in 2009 at the University of Minnesota with funding from the Initiative for Renewable Energy and the Environment to address the health, environmental, and inherently unsustainable challenges presented by traditional polymers. Our grand challenge is to discover and develop methods that efficiently and economically convert biorenewable feedstocks into innovative polymeric products that outperform the current suite of non-sustainable polymers from performance, environmental, and cost perspectives.

NSF 100Today, the CSP is supported as a Center for Chemical Innovation by the National Science Foundation.
